Normally, Colleges/Universities/Institutions have IEEE STUDENT BRANCH which comes under the IEEE Section. For Example, IEEE Bangalore Section has many Student Branches (SB).
Under this Student Branch, we an expand and start Student Branch Chapter department wise. For example, ECE or telecommunication dept. can start ComSoc Student Branch Chapter (SBC), They can start CAS Student Branch Chapter, Antenna and Microwave SBCs and so on.
All these SBCs report to SB as well as their own Chapters/Society in the Section. For example, ComSoc at SBC also reports to ComSoc Chapter Bangalore and seek fund/technical help, etc.
At least 6 IEEE Student Members with society Membership is necessary along with a Faculty advisor of that society. This means, for example, faculty advisor to be IEEE ComSoc Member and six students with ComSoc student members.
