Upcoming Workshop

SmartCities20181

Date :16-17 November 2018

The urban sector across the globe, especially India, is evolving rapidly and bringing new challenges to city planners and administrators. In view of social and environmental changes, in urban sectors, civic bodies are directing development strategies towards “Smart Cities”. The primary objective of the “Smart Cities” is to improve citizens quality of life by providing core infrastructure – good governance, assured electricity supply, adequate water supply, efficient mobility and public transportation, sustainable environment, health & education etc.
A journey towards “Smart City” begins with transformation in governance, energy, health, education & transportation systems, citizens thinking & lifestyle, and availability & accessibility of information & communication technologies. ICT plays a vital role, to achieve sustainable “Smart City”, in development of scalable & seamlessly integrated structures/architectures for
  • Smart Energy Management Systems
  • Smart Buildings
  • Smart Health Care
  • Good Governance
  • Smart Physical safety & Security
In this regard, IEEE PES Bangalore Chapter, IEEE Bangalore Section & IEEE ComSoc Bangalore Chapter are jointly organizing a two-day brainstorming workshop on “Smart Cities”.
The theme of the workshop is “Smart Cities: Focus on Green Energy, Governance and Health“.
The objective of this workshop is to create a platform where different stakeholders, like city planners, policy makers, social reformers & professionals from power, telecommunication, data analytics, IT and mobility sectors can share their perspective and deliberate on opportunities & challenges associated in advancement of smart cities. This workshop clearly articulates trends of Smart Cities in Karnataka & Pan India and how collaboration among stakeholders – Government, utilities, communities, public, etc., can expedite deployment of smart cities. As smart technologies acts as backbone for sustainable smart cities, great emphasis will be given on development & application of the technologies for improvement of living standards – smart healthcare, reduction in pollution, infrastructure overload minimization, green building initiatives, smart grids, smart lighting, smart homes, e-governance and effective coordination of all subsystems.
At the end of the workshop, the deliberations and suggestions, will be compiled in a white paper and submitted to Government and IEEE PES Head Quarters.

One day workshop on

“5G in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS): How 5G can Solve Bangalore Traffic problem”

23 Nov 2018 @ Wipro, Electronics City

Our transportation systems are on the verge of a transformation as we make progress on autonomous vehicles, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication infrastructures, and smart road infrastructures like smart traffic lights. However, many challenges stand in the way of this transformation. For example, Bangalore traffic is very well known to all of us. Challenge before us are numerous. Can we solve them? Can we bring and accomplish safe autonomous driving? How do we smoothen the crowded and ever increasing traffic? How can we make smooth flow of traffic, can we have safe driving? How do we achieve near-zero fatality? How do we optimize efficiency through intelligent traffic management and control of fleets? How do we optimize for traffic capacity during rush hours? Is there anything special that 5G technology offer? and many more. The workshop (organized by IEEE ComSoc Bangalore chapter) will try to address some of the issues and present various challenges and possible solutions. Join the workshop and listen from key industry experts. We humbly invite all stake holders to join this workshop and address the issues.
